SOPA - the foundations for the Great Firewall of America
You have probably heard about the Great Firewall:
In a short time Wikipedia will have a new entry:
Unfortunately you will not be able to see it.
The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011.
This bill aims to reduce loosely defined 'online piracy'. Its wording is ambiguous enough that in practice it would empower the US government and big corporations to:
Suspend the Internet service prior to being found guilty
Blacklist sites to be blocked by Internet service providers and search engines
Interfere with the Internet's domain name system (DNS)
Force search engines to redirect or dump certain websites' URLs
SecurityKISS is an Ireland based company and has experience and technology to protect privacy and bypass censorship for netizens who want to access unrestricted Internet. Although SOPA may bring more business for SecurityKISS, we oppose this legislation. SOPA is too serious matter and would give the government unprecedented power to interfere with Internet.
On 7th of January 2012, SOPA is still discussed in Congres so all is not lost.
Help fight this bill. Watch and share the movie. Raise people awareness.
